  • Hangtags

We specialize in the production of hangtags. We attach/tie threads with machines in both small and large quantities, with or without eyelet hole reinforcement. Hangtags are ideal for labeling or including product information and advertising.
All production takes place in Sweden!

What are hangtags?

Hangtags can be designed in many ways; from simple two-sided labels printed in one colour, to multi-page brochures printed in full colour with images. Holes can be reinforced with eyelets, and a variety of strings and paper qualities can be used.

There are many applications. Your product may not be suitable for packaging, or it may be too stylish to be tucked away in a box. Tags provide the opportunity to include information without the need for packaging. Our products are found on everything from beds to saws.

Since the initial cost is relatively low, we can work with quantities ranging from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of copies. We can quickly produce large quantities because the production takes place in Sweden.

Sizes

Hangtags can come in all kind of shapes and sizes.
Our machines are capable of attaching thread to tags as small as 40 x 25 mm and as large as A5 format
The most common sizes we produce are 80 x 45 mm and 100 x 50 mm

Thread types

Cotton thread

Cotton thread or stiff thread is available in white and black as standard, but we can source other colors at an additional cost. The thread colour can complement your tag’s logo colours or similar.

Elastic thread

Elastic thread can be stretched to double its length, making it easy to attach to various details. The thread is available in black or white as standard, but there are more variations and colours that we can source at an additional cost.

Steel wire

We can now offer hangtags with steel wire! They are machine-tied using our in-house developed machines, ensuring consistent high quality in production. The steel wire is very strong but easy to bend for attaching to various machine parts, etc.

Metal clips

We don’t attach metal clips to the tags, but they can be included with the delivery. They are traditionally used for key tags, where they are threaded through the eyeletted tag and the key to keep them together. However, we recommend key tags to be delivered with pre-tied elastic thread, which is actually more cost-effective for the customer.

Thread length

The thread length is measured from the hole to the knot.

As a standard, cotton thread is the same length as the tag, for instance, the thread is 100 mm on a 100 mm long tag.
Elastic thread is, as a standard, slightly less than two-thirds of the tag length, for example, the thread is 60 mm long on a 100 mm tag.

Elastic thread can be stretched to double its length.

If desired, the thread length can be specified, with a minimum length of 50 mm and a maximum length of 140 mm.

Materials

Paper

Tags can be made from various materials, with paper being the most common choice.

Paper can be categorized into three main types: uncoated, silk (medium coated), and gloss (highly coated).

It is available in various thicknesses, often referred to as grammage. Common printer paper is usually uncoated and around 80g/m2, while business cards are printed on 300g/m2.

Plastic materials

We print on materials such as Yupo, which is a Polypropylene film that cannot be torn apart. It is well-suited for use in dirty environments or for tags exposed to the elements.

We can also eyelet and tie other plastic materials, but we would need samples from you to test in our machines.

Hole punch

& Eyeletting

All tags are hole-punched, whether they are tied with thread or not. During hole-punching, we can also attach an eyelet around the hole. Eyelets/beads are used as reinforcements to make the tag more durable and can also serve as an attractive detail. Some tags have only eyelets, but often, we complement them by tying cotton, elastic, or steel thread into the tag, as it does not incur a significant additional cost.

Normally, holes without eyelets are 3.5 mm in diameter unless otherwise specified. We can make holes as small as 3 mm in diameter and as large as 6 mm.

Tags tied with steel wire always have eyelets. Eyelets are primarily available in steel but also in brass.

Our standard eyelets are approximately 5.5 – 6 mm in outer diameter and about 4 mm in inner diameter (the hole). Normally, the eyelet is placed about 5 mm from the top edge of the tag (to the top of the eyelet).

Our machines punch holes during the same process as tying, so tags we receive for tying from other printers should not be pre-punched.

.

Variable printing

Hangtags can be printed with variable data, meaning the print content is sourced from a data file and can vary from tag to tag based on the customer’s data.

An example of this is numbering each tag, something that, for instance, can assist a workshop in keeping track of their customers’ vehicles. It can also be used in conjunction with perforation of the tags to allow tearing off and providing a matching receipt to the customer.

Other examples include names or any other custom data in an Excel document; virtually any text can be used. Barcodes and QR codes can also be used if each tag needs a unique code for scanning.
